Little Beetle Indoor
Chilliwack No.1
Brunch Restaurant
1.Prologue:
What we wanted to share with our clients as we transformed the space.
In the peaceful city of Chilliwack, there's a must-visit brunch café called Little Beetle. Despite its distance from downtown and frequent wait times, customers kept coming, not just for the food, but for the warmth of the space and the joy of simply being there.
Still, the owner always dreamed of sharing the Little Beetle experience with even more people. Motivated by a serving heart for customers, they set out to create a new space, a new beginning that could reach a wider audience without losing the essence of what made the café special.
Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve, and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

2. Brand Position – Deepening Identity, Not Changing It
The move to a larger space wasn't about becoming something new. It was about holding onto the core identity of Little Beetle, preserving the warmth and intention that existing customers had grown to love, while welcoming new faces.
"Brunch isn't just a meal—it’s a ritual that sets the tone for your day."
Little Beetle is not just a place to grab a bite. It’s a space that gently marks the beginning of a new day, shaping your mood and mindset. That’s why the top priority in the design was this: although the location may be new, the atmosphere should feel just as familiar.

3. Design Story – Bringing Nature Indoors
The design draws heavily on natural elements, aiming to recreate the sense of ease that nature offers. Using authentic wood finishes and thoughtfully placed greenery, the space was crafted to feel grounded and peaceful.
Wood – Setting the Tone
Natural soft solid wood became the foundation of the space’s palette. By applying a light stain that preserves the grain, the material captures an organic rhythm and warm undertone. The wood's natural variation creates subtle shifts in mood as the light changes throughout the day.

Plants – Enveloping the Guest
While the first Little Beetle café used potted plants, the new location integrates greenery through bench-like planters. These create the feeling of being nestled within a quiet forest. Beyond visual appeal, the system was carefully designed with irrigation and drainage in mind, ensuring both form and function.
This layout brings nature inside, offering guests the serene experience of beginning their day surrounded by greenery.

4. Brand Voice – Effortless Comfort
At the heart of Little Beetle is a quiet wish: that every guest feels at ease. The design reflects this. From the texture of the materials to the calm arrangement of objects, nothing feels forced.
The intention was not to dazzle but to gently embrace to preserve the sense of mood, grain, and emptiness that customers had come to love. The experience is designed to feel familiar, effortless, and lasting.

6. Uniqid × Little Beetle – How the Space Was Made
Uniqid led the design and construction of the project, translating the brand’s emotional depth into architectural form. Subtle emotion. Balanced composition. Unspoken intention.
This wasn’t about creating a new customer experience. It was about deepening the relationship with the customers who already loved the brand.

It’s simply grown big enough to hold more people who want to stay."
